Pennbots 29th event results posted by Paul on 08/02/2006
Well, the multi-bot didn't work as well as we had planned. My half was experiencing reception problems and Alex's half was having trouble with a drive motor. I guess we rushed these bots alittle too much. We did look pretty good in our first match though, against the pincer bot Pressure Point. Here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LR2Sunb_XtE

We ended up going 0-2. At the start of both matches we looked to be in control, but by the end of the matches the bots were dead.

Here's a picture after it was all said and done.

building version 1.0 posted by Paul on 07/27/2006
Our next event is this coming Saturday, the 29th of July. As of right now, I have all the parts except for hte new higher voltage motors coming in today. This is what the bot looks like as of now.

I have today and tomorrow to screw the frame together, scroll out the mounting holes for the Banebots drive gearboxes, cut and bend a 1/16" aluminium wedge/plow, change the motors on the gearboxes, and wire it all up. Then pray it works and is under 2 pounds.

New motors posted by Alex on 07/13/2006
After testing the new 25mm 180 size banebot motors I burnt them out in about 20 minutes at 7.4v. Instead of changing the motors every few matches I searched for a new higher voltage type of the 180 size motor. I got a few of these at my local hobby store and replaced the old lower voltage motor with the higher voltage motor. I am very happy with the results and would recommend this upgrade for anyone who are going to use the banebot 25mm motors.

After seeing the success of our antweight multi-bot we decided to do a beetle multi thus Beyond the Basics was born. Beyond the Basics is an beetleweight multi-bot shared by Alex Udanis and Paul Ogin. My half weights approximately 1lb and can also compete as a Antweight. It has 2 25mm Banebot for drive and uses an ultra-low wedge to get under his opponents and take them around the arena. Paul's half is the heavier half, weighing in at 2lbs, and employs a servo powered lifter. It also has a wedge and is powered by 4 25mm Banebot motors.
